Acupuncture is a treatment method associated with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). TCM is one of the oldest continually practised healthcare systems in the world. Acupuncture can decrease pain, relax muscles, improve joint flexibility and circulation, strengthen the immune system, and regulate the nervous system. In traditional acupuncture, needles are inserted in the body on specific points located along a network of channels, or meridians. The goal is to balance the flow of vital energy — or Qi (pronounced “chee”) — throughout the body.

Chiropractic is a drug-free, non-invasive method of pain relief and general whole-body wellness. The most common form of treatment is manual manipulation of the joints of the body — specifically, those of the spinal column. This “chiropractic adjustment” is a precisely performed procedure where the doctor exerts a gentle force, usually by hand, on a specific joint. The adjustment restores joint flexibility, optimizes function, and decreases pain.
Chiropractors may also use soft tissue techniques such as Active Release Techniques®, Graston Techniques®, and shockwave therapy to address the muscles, nerves, tendons, and ligaments of the body. They might also use other treatments such as acupuncture, intramuscular stimulation (IMS), and low level laser therapy to decrease pain and improve the body’s own ability to heal. The treatment you receive depends on your condition and overall medical history. After assessing your symptoms, your chiropractor will tell you what — if any — form of chiropractic care is right for you.

Terri-Lee graduated from Northumberland College in 2000, with a diploma in Massage Therapy. While maintaining a full-time practice, she returned to Northumberland College as a part-time instructor of Anatomy, Assessment and Clinical Skills, and Supervisor of both the Public Teaching Clinic, and the MS Teaching Clinics through 2003-2004 and 2017-2020.

Terri-Lee’s passion for learning lead her to the study and practice of CranioSacral Therapy (CST) and she now specializes in CST, a light touch approach that affects some of the deepest tissues in the body. Few body structures have more influence over your health and well-being than your Central Nervous System (CNS). Tension, strain, or injury of the tissues that surround the CNS can compromise optimal function. CranioSacral techniques ‘free’ the nervous system to perform at its best. CranioSacral Therapy helps the body relax, self-correct, reduces pain and stress, strengthens resistance to disease, and enhances your health and well-being.

CranioSacral Therapy is affective for all ages, from infants to elders, and because the CNS influences virtually every structure and system of the body, the potential for positive change exists in just about every condition or injury a person might be experiencing. Whether a condition is considered neurological, mechanical, mental/emotional, or systemic, CranioSacral Therapy has the potential to help.

“I am often inspired by my clients and by the body’s ability to heal”, says Terri-Lee. “I feel fortunate that I am in a position to be able to facilitate or enhance the healing process.”
